Intern and Volunteer Placement and Support

An integral component of our work involves connecting the services and expertise of dedicated and talented individuals with our partner organizations. These medium- to long-term placements (8 – 26 weeks) promote the in-depth capacity development of our partner organizations that, coupled with FCDE seed grants and technical training efforts, provide a comprehensive program tailored to the needs and goals of each partner.

Interning or volunteering through FCDE provides a singularly unique opportunity for someone who is eager to learn, to be engaged and who strives to influence the shape of development from within a local grassroots organization. Each intern/volunteer works with a team of development professionals and is a part of community-driven development initiatives directly benefiting the village and community in which they are working. It is an exciting chance to positively influence sustainable development efforts on the ground and empower people to make lasting change in their communities.

People who join FCDE’s intern and volunteer programs typically choose to work within a development sector matching their education and work experience. Our focus areas include: small business development, health, environment, youth and education, women’s empowerment, HIV and AIDS, social justice.

In order to learn more about FCDE’s opportunities to develop your skills, live and work in an active grassroots community, provide needed assistance and engage in ways that challenge and reward, please visit our intern and volunteer abroad section.

Internships are currently available in our Kasese, Uganda site. Please go to our internship and group trip website isla-serve.org to learn more.
