Our interns and staff are consistently working with our local partner organizations to develop new initiatives, program enhancements or creative approaches to address specific local needs. Our focus is to help our partners advance their project design skills, increase their ability to craft and prepare grant requests and implement projects in a transparent way that increases the effectiveness of their work.
FCDE has a grant program where it awards project grants with funding from $100 to $2,500. Working closely with our partner organizations at each step of this process ensures that technical skills are developed on the ground and that donations are effectively and sustainably utilized.
There are often projects that are not eligible for our grant program that we strongly support. We work to support these types of projects through our website and from our other direct fundraising efforts. We encourage you to look over current projects, learn more about what we are doing in the field and find a project that strikes your interest, which you might want to support.
We will be providing feedback on the progress of all projects so that you know where your money is going and can have a better understanding of the impact of your tax-deductable gift. We ask that donations to specific projects be at least $100.
To make a donation, go to our donate page and mention the project by name when you make the donation.
Projects currently seeking support:
Creation of a Resource Center in Uganda - CURRENT TOTAL RAISED $2,000 - GOAL:$7,400
The creation of a resource center for struggling local grassroots and nongovernmental organizations (GROs and NGOs) is a priority for community development in Kasese, Uganda. Kasese has a large number of community-based organizations that are trying to support their community's development efforts but lack access to the most basic technology that would allow them to be more effective in their work. FCDE's resource center would provide computers with internet access, a development library, access to printing, copying and binding equipment as well as a clean, safe place to research and network with other organizations that are working towards the same end.
You can read more about the specific equipment and materials that have been identified as the basic essentials to make this project a success by clicking here:

FCDE Scholarship Fund - CURRENT TOTAL RAISED $350 - Goal: $880
FCDE works with locally started and run grassroot and non-governmental organizations. These organizations have been started by local communities and individuals who are surrounded by the grinding poverty and lack of access to health, education and economic opportunities that have been identified as basic human rights. These organizations are where truly sustainable development starts as they have taken the need for development into their own hands and are attempting to improve their community.
Many of these organizations exist on budgets that do not total over $1,000 per year. FCDE works with these organizations to build their capacity and effectiveness in helping their communities. FCDE asks that these organizations provide food, transportation and lodging for their staff members attending our capacity building workshops, yet many of these organizations cannot even afford these minimal costs.
The FCDE scholarship fund provides support for up to three individuals from the six most needy and deserving Kasese, Uganda-based NGOs and GROs.
